#1009: Sharpening Up Your Game
My wife and I have been practicing being empty-nesters, although not quite at this point, but getting there. At times it seems to be a question of what we’re going to do with these times. We both have a love of pool so every week we play pool and my wife is getting very good. In fact, she starting to beat me and it frustrates me. I told her I’d like her to try calling her shots more. We played a game like that and she said it was hard and I said yeah but wait and see.
We played a couple of games and I was able to show her that although she wasn’t winning we will go back to playing the old way of just hitting balls in the pocket. She proceeded to kick my butt. and it’s what I told her that it would help her up her game. In life I’m constantly trying to up my game, and that means challenging myself beyond what’s comfortable. I’ve often said that just because something is hard doesn’t mean I don’t do it. It usually means I have to.
